X Factor alumni Olly Murs and Alexandra Burke will be taking to the stage in the glorious grounds of Warwick Castle this summer, for the first night of the Castle?s three day musical extravaganza, The Great British Weekend. The event, which takes place from the 15th-17th July, will welcome the two stars for a poptastic Friday night show that will open a weekend of spectacular music at the historic venue.
Chart-topper Olly Murs, the cheeky Essex boy who came second in the 2009 X Factor final, will be joining The Great British Weekend fresh from his sell-out UK tour. The show launched his star into the stratosphere and his debut single Please Don?t Let Me Go shot straight to the top of the charts upon its launch in 2010. He went on to enjoy platinum-selling success with his eponymous debut album and this year received the ultimate accolade; A Brit Award nomination for Please Don?t Let Me Go.
The second X Factor star taking to the Warwick Castle stage on the Friday night is feisty pop-starlet Alexandra Burke, whose spectacular performance with Beyonce was one of the most memorable collaborations in the show?s history. Since winning the X Factor in 2008 Alexandra has become a pop-force to be reckoned with, after her debut single and album hit the top of the charts and her music garnered a slew of Brit nominations.
Alexandra said; ?I?m very excited about performing at Warwick Castle this summer, it?s a stunning venue to play and having the Castle as a backdrop is going to be incredible. I?m also looking forward to catching up with Olly, it will be a bit of an X factor reunion.?
Now in its thirteenth year, the event will also host the welcome return of the UK?s greatest Proms concert on the Saturday night. Back by popular demand, the concert will feature the English National Orchestra with chart-topper Wynne Evans headlining. Most recognisable for his starring role in the Go Compare advert, Wynne is also a world-renowned performer whose debut album topped the classical charts upon its release in March of this year. Wynne will be joined by renowned theatre conductor Jae Alexander, who is back for the second year directing proceedings.
The Sunday will offer the perfect night for soul, disco and pop lovers with a 10 piece band, along with star dancers and performers, entertaining guests with an epic night of party classics made famous by Michael Jackson. The biggest tracks from the undisputed king of pop will be performed by leading artists in this spectacular music anthology.
Offering visitors three fantastic and very different days out, the event promises something for all the family to enjoy. To book visit www.warwick-castle.com or call 0845 296 0000.
