Are 3D Pirates Less Profitable Than 2D Ones???

pirates of the caribbean hurt by 3d

According to analysts, the answer is aye yes!

While Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides may have had the biggest international opening of all time, BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield seems to think that the film would have fared even better in the U.S. if it had been released on more 2D screens.

Here's what Greenfield had to say about it:

"U.S. consumers are increasingly rejecting 3D movies."

Richard says that audiences are concerned with higher ticket prices for 3D movies, and he also believes that young children don't want to wear 3D glasses.

We certainly can't argue the higher prices. It costs a small fortune for large families to go see a 3D movie?especially if they plan on snacking!

?Then again, we suppose they could always smuggle in Skittles in their pockets or purses. Ha!

Do U think Richard Greenfield is right? Did the 3D factor affect your decision to go see Pirates or not?
