Check out the first pic of Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey on the set of The Hobbit!

Pretty HIGHlarious to see such an important character rockin' the 3D shades!

Along with the picture, Ian said this:

LOLz! Glad everyone is digging the 3D filming process! We can't wait to see it, because from what we hear? it's going to visually be pretty revolutionary (shooting in 3D, Epic Camera, at 48FPS??)!
